The head office in Midrand is staffed by 6 people, who are responsible for the day to day running of the Association and are committed to the Association’s goals and to providing outstanding service and support to its members.
The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of the Association and supervises the daily operations, administration and running of the Association. He acts as liaison between the Association and the management committee and sees that all the duties and proposals of the Directorate are executed.
The Directorate of the Association consists of 5 to 9 elected members - serving in a voluntary non-executive capacity - who meet regularly to establish Association policy and oversee the affairs of the Association. The number of Directors is determined by the SAOA members through an AGM and depends on strategic demand.
A President of the Association is elected from the board of Directors to serve a period of two years.
To assist the Directorate in running the affairs of the association, various subcommittees are appointed to deal with matters and advise the Directorate regarding (e.g.) the constitution and ethics.
OMBUDSMAN: The ombudsman acts as facilitator to resolve conflict between the public and members of the SAOA.
